Bell's latest cria, Castor, arrived on 11/4/23, and first impressions are that he is quite amazing! He arrived just a wee bit early, but he is doing quite well. We were hoping for a female, but at least we did get a dark fawn male that looks pretty darn promising! Castor continues to develop well. His fleece may be the brightest ever produced here. While we have agreed to sell him, we hope to still show him starting in the Fall of 2024, and we have also retained breeding rights. DEFINITELY going to repeat this breeding, but she's been bred to our newest herdsire, Corteva, for her Spring 2025 cria.
Bells' 2022 cria arrived on 10/2/22 and he's gorgeous!! Based on the outcome, we decided to rebreed Bells to Ganymede for an encore. Her cria, Iapitus, has an extremely dense and curly fleece with those little rolls down the back of his neck! And he has great bone... well, doggonit, someone had different plans. Just after Ganymede left for his winter home in Texas, Bell’s revealed that she needed to breed again. The lucky boy is Rigel! Rigel should be able to pull color out of Bells as she has plenty of it in her background. The result was Castor -- stunning!
We’re absolutely smitten with this girl. As her name suggests, she is a Snowmass Loro Piana daughter, and she is out of a Snowmass Defiance daughter. Then add a little Snowmass Best Man and a little Snowmass Sub-Zero! That’s what this girl’s got! Incredible genetics there!
Bells of Piana delivered a beautiful fawn female cria out of Snowmass Rock Solid on July 17, 2021! Bells has plenty of milk and she is an excellent mama.
Bells is the offspring of a phenomenal herdsire, Snowmass Loro Piana, who is in the top 1% EPD's for AFD & SF, and top 10% for SDAFD. Loro Piana was the best producer of fineness at Snowmass, and it is a lasting fineness – he had a 16 micron fleece at age five.
