Venus Rising - Empire '18 - yeah, we did trim her head right before the show...
Phenomenal girl...All we can say is Wow! She is better than we could have dreamed! And this cria on board is a repeat breeding, as its full sister is an absolute stunner. UPDATE: Venus spring 2026 cria arrived on 6/18, and this is the first time I’ve been genuinely excited about a male cria in quite some time. He’s so nice, that we’ve decided to breed Venus back to Rigel yet another time, even though I had planned to breed her to a different boy. This time, I need a girl, though! MMFA Venus ...

So...Adhara will be staying in our foundation herd. We sold her as a yearling and we were able to purchase her back as a 2-year-old. We love her fiber qualities and spot-on conformation. Her fleece has developed nicely, and that spot doesn't bother us at all. With that fleece, we have a plan for Adhara! In looking at Adhara's fleece, it's a strong combination of everything good from her parents -- it has beautiful crimp and bundling with an extremely fine micron and wonderful handle. Adhara was shown as a yearling at the 2022 CAC/CAP Show, and she garnered first place in a Halter class of whites, even though she has that rather obvious fawn spot in her blanket, and she took third in a tough Walking Fleece class! I think the Judge was considering Adhara for a RC banner in the halter class, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it because of that spot...it was obvious he liked both her fleece and conformation.

Adhara's very promising as a step towards creating a highly evolved fleece character in a darker fleeced offspring! She'll be able to push color through. She's been bred to Man in the Moon's Rigel, a 5x Champion — see his webpage for more information, and we expect a high probability for a fawn cria of solid color with an absolutely phenomenal fleece! Can’t wait for this cria! UPDATE: Adhara’s cria finally arrived after a 379 day gestation! She didn’t deliver on the color, but she graced us with a beige female cria that looks extremely promising! Stay tuned!

Adhara also showed at the 2021 MAPACA as a Juvie and she definitely got dinged for having the spot in her blanket, but Judge Wade Gease said he kept her in at 4th because of her bright fleece, fineness and her uniformity across the blanket—while mentioning that spot. Despite the spot, we repeated this breeding with hope for another little girl just like Adhara...minus the spot would be a bonus, but we'll take it either way with this high quality fleece! Adhara's full sibling arrived and her name is Carina! We bred their dam, Venus, back to their sire, Ganymede, for yet another full sibling. Can't wait to see him or her in Spring of 2023!…And wow!!! Adhara has a full brother, Centaurus, and he’s just amazing — perhaps the best yet from this pairing of Adhara’s dam and sire! Looking forward to the 2024 full sibling, and she arrived: Astra is her name and she’s stunning!

P.S. Adhara is a star in the constellation Canus Majora

Ganymede is an incredible package and he was very competitive in the most difficult Spring 2016 white juvie male class despite his late shearing. Each time he's shown, he's gotten the attention of the judge. He is one that pops out in the crowd...upon close examination, he has it all -- extreme uniformity, brightness, fineness, density, etc. carrying down into his belly, legs, head.
In his 3rd place wins, both judges were thrilled with his fleece character and uniformity, as well as his outstanding conformation (very typey overall), and stated that the males above him had slightly finer micron; however, Ganymede's genetics put him on a trajectory of LASTING FINENESS, as evidenced by his 2019 fleece stats!
