Ganymede has an advanced elite fleece, indeed, and perfect conformation! Judges called it early on...and he achieved top honors at the 2017 AOA National Show as the Supreme Champion Light Huacaya Male, including the White Invited Male Color Championship...Ganymede has an amazing fleece with an unbelievable structure and density. He exhibits a tight little zipper crimp with extreme uniformity, matchstick bundling, brightness and fineness across his fleece...the character lasting well down into his legs and belly. SKIN BIOPSY was performed at 30 months of age by Dr. Norm Evans in December 2017. Of note, his 15x scan shows large fiber clusters uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. This uniformity trait likely came from his dam. His scan shows only 4 guard type hairs from the 6800+ fibers in his 10 MM tissue punch. His true density is 86.75 follicles per SQ MM of skin. He shows a level 2 of 4 gland structure, with an average S/P ratio of 14.1 to 1, and only 11% of his secondary fibers are medullated which is rare since the average is near 60%. His 250x scan shows the presence of many round secondary fibers, and one hundred typical secondary fibers averaged 17.8 microns — at 30 months old!! According to Dr. Evans 30 months is the recommended age for skin biopsies and gives the most accurate values. Full report available upon request. Caramela is going to Joshua & Heidi Dallman at Ever After Alpaca Farm. We can't think of a better place for her! Caramela has produced two beautiful females for us out of our 2017 National Supreme Champion male and we’ve bred Caramela back to Man in the Moon's Peruvian Ganymede, with hope for another darker fleeced female. Ganymede's Dark Star of MMFA arrived on 8/30/18, and she is a beautiful medium fawn female with fleece that's exhibiting excellent character across the blanket and into her extremities. The judges have recognized the uniformity of her fleece and placed her above alpacas that were finer in micron -- We deemed her worthy to be bred to the 2020 Futurity Judges Choice male, Alpaca Palace Zagato's Zumba -- see more info through her link below. Caramela's 2019 cria, Calypso (SOLD), was born on 10/16/19, and her fleece is very fine. She is medium brown complete with black points - quite a surprise to us!!. She started out with a "silky" fleece, just like her full sister, Dark Star, who was born in 2018. As Calypso's fleece grew out from it's 2020 shearing, it began developing extremely nice bundles and crimp while maintaining its fineness. Caramela's 2020 cria, Man in the Moon's Peruvian Mercury, arrived on 11/13/20! We're thrilled with what we see -- good bone, that same silky fleece that has been characteristic of his dam's offspring, and a gorgeous head style! This breeding between his dam and Man in the Moon's Prometheus (his sire out of Zagato) was intended to capitalize on the exceptional staple length and lasting fineness of both, and the architecture we find so appealing in Prometheus' fleece. We'll keep you posted on his link below as we see what Mercury's got! The fleece characteristics that Caramela allows to pass through are something we don't take for granted. She has impressed us with her long fiber, fleece weight, and fineness as she matured....it still had a staple length of >4" at her 2019 shearing! At 7+ years, her histogram showed an AFD of 22.2 (this is the last sample we had tested), and as a huge majority of Royal Fawn's offspring, we expect she'll carry that fineness for the rest of her life. She also has a nice disposition. Caramela's sire, PPPeruvian Royal Fawn, was a full Accoyo male with a history of passing on his fine-fibered genetics to his 406 offspring. Consistent show winners and high sellers, his progeny boast 108 known champions and 329 blue ribbons in every solid color group. Hand selected by the late Dr. Jim Vickers, Royal Fawn was the only light fawn Accoyo exported from Don Julio Barreda’s herd. According to Julio Barreda, Royal Fawn ranked as one better than he had ever produced at Estancia Accoyo in Peru. PPPeruvian Royal Fawn was the 1999 and 2000 "Get-of-Sire" winner at the AOBA National Show.

Dark Star’s first offspring, Zenon, was awarded 1st Place and Reserve Champion at his first two shows (at 8.6 months old)!!! He’s growing well in both fleece and conformation, and is now available as a Jr Herdsire.

Dark Star produced a light fawn (or possibly beige) male cria on 11/4/23 out of Alpaca Palace Legend’s Rising Sun, that’s looking (…and feeling) very promising. Initially, it was hard to ascertain density, but after just a few weeks it’s very apparent in the fleece just next to his skin — very fine with excellent handle and dense. His sire, Legends Rising Sun, has incredible matchstick bundles full of a well-defined crimp and brightness, and he's maintaining uniformity and fineness across his blanket. His histogram at 5.9 YEARS old is phenomenal with a Grade 1 fleece! We had the opportunity to see 2 of his first offspring at the 2022 Buckeye Fall Fest and they were stunning! If there had been a third offspring there, he probably would have had a good shot at winning Get of Sire.

Dark Star’s first cria arrived on 5/23/22. He’s a healthy 16.3 pound male out of Zagato’s Zumba. Zenon's long fawn fleece is full of character and it just glows!

Dark Star’s fleece has excellent length, density and crimp. The judges have recognized the uniformity of Dark Star's fleece across the blanket and into her extremities...and the length of her fleece is another strong point. Her dam was maintaining a very nice length as a 10-year old breeding female, and it measured over 4" long at her eighth shearing!

Purchase Terms

Standard industry contracts are used. Breeding quality alpacas come with reproductive and live birth guarantees. You may take possession of your alpacas once the down payment is received and the “contract for purchase” signed by both parties. Transfer of ownership with ARI will not occur until full payment is received. Financing is available with 25 - 33% down, with up to 24 monthly payments. Buyer must purchase full mortality insurance for alpaca and offspring, if any, naming Man in the Moon Farm LLC as beneficiary on balance due until paid in full. Breedings include 60 day agistment unless otherwise noted. Special pricing often available for multiple alpaca purchases or multiple breeding purchase. Transportation responsibility of buyer.
